Occupational Safety and Health committed to people

Laura Andrea Deaza Cortés- SST Manager, Ubaté Section

The Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) at the Ubaté branch has planned activities to support compliance with the OHSMS policy and objectives of the University of Cundinamarca. These activities have been successfully carried out with the participation of administrative and teaching staff. Workshops on self-massage, tidiness and organization, a video game tournament, voice care training, safety procedures, and reporting of health and safety conditions, among others, organized by the OHS office and representatives to the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (COPASST), have demonstrated the staff's responsibility and commitment to the OHSMS.

Resources have been allocated to improve the workstations of teachers and administrative staff. With the acquisition of 37 ergonomic chairs for the teachers' lounge, ergonomic mice, and laptop stands, the aim is to gradually ensure that all workstations in the Ubaté branch have optimal physical and ergonomic conditions.

Similarly, improvements have been made to the branch's facilities thanks to the support and management of the physical resources office, in order to control risks associated with safety conditions. Currently, the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) is in the process of preparing for certification under the ISO 45001:2018 standard. This certification will demonstrate the Ubaté branch's commitment to risk and hazard management, health promotion, and the prevention of risks and illnesses among its employees, a fundamental pillar of the University of Cundinamarca.
