Commitment and excellence in winter sports

The University of Cundinamarca celebrates the outstanding participation of its tennis team in the 2nd JR López Stop, held on September 6 and 7, 2025 at the El Bosque Club, municipality of Silvania.

The team consisted of 11 athletes who demonstrated talent, discipline and a great competitive spirit against 75 participants from different regions.

In the 6th category

• Juan Sebastián Cuéllar Molina, semifinalist in singles and mixed doubles.
• Sara Luciana Ulla González, quarter-finals in singles and semi-finals in mixed doubles.
• Tania Gutiérrez Molano, round of 16 in singles.

In the 5th category:

• Juan José Calderón Vargas, quarter-finalist in singles and semi-finalist in men's doubles.
• Sara Gabriela Riveros Castiblanco, quarter-finals in mixed doubles.

In the 4th category:

• Juan Sebastián Chacón Benavides, semifinalist in singles and champion in men's doubles alongside Samuel López Ibáñez.
• Luis Carlos Monroy Chávez, quarterfinals in men's singles and doubles.
• Alek Mateo Acevedo Salamanca, semifinalist in men's doubles alongside Calderón Vargas.

Sebastián Guevara Barrios, the team's coach, highlighted the commitment and technical evolution of each of the athletes, emphasizing the effort of those who did not advance to the final rounds, but demonstrated remarkable progress.

The team, under the direction of coaches Sebastián Guevara Barrios and Rodrigo Acero Escobar, continues its preparations for upcoming sporting challenges. The schedule includes participation in the TFC Open Tennis Tournament in Ibagué, scheduled for September 20 and 21, and the Cundinamarca Cup, which will take place on October 6 at the El Bosque Club in Silvania. These matches represent another opportunity to continue demonstrating talent, discipline, and the University of Cundinamarca's strong commitment to sports and excellence.
