The UCundinamarca skating team continues to excel in competitive settings across the country, consolidating its training process and projecting new talents in the sports field.
In the National Junior Tournament, organized by the Colombian Skating Federation and held in Bogotá from February 20 to 22, 2026, four athletes from the UCundinamarca Sports Club represented the institution with discipline and commitment, achieving important results.
Among the most outstanding performances is Sara Sofía Chacón, who won a national medal by achieving second place in the points test and also placed third in the skills test among 117 athletes, consolidating herself within the national podium.
For her part, Mia Isabela Rios Castillo reached 16th place in the 200-meter head-to-head race and eighth place in the skills competition, while Avril Barragan Gomez achieved second place in her qualifying heat in the in-line race, coming very close to the podium in the points race.
The athlete Dania Isabella Reina also had an outstanding participation, placing 27th out of 134 competitors in the online event and 16th in the 200 meters head-to-head, demonstrating a solid performance in speed events.
Coach Manuel Antonio Hernández Serpa highlighted that the sporting event brought together a large number of athletes nationwide, which significantly raised the technical and competitive level of the tests, allowing the progress of the club's training process to be measured.
Outstanding performance in departmental ranking
Similarly, the team participated in the IV Departmental Skating Ranking, organized by the Cundinamarca Skating League in the municipality of Facatativá on January 25 and 26, 2026, where eight athletes represented the institution with positive results.
In this competition, performances such as that of Keyla Sofía Moya stood out, who obtained first place in the points test and first place in elimination, in addition to a second place in the 200 meters, consolidating herself among the best in her category.
Likewise, Dania Isabella Reina achieved second place in the points test, while several athletes from the team placed within the Top 10 in different modalities, reflecting the competitive growth of the club.
The overall balance of the departmental ranking resulted in two first places, three second places and a constant presence in finals, demonstrating strengths in speed tests and tactical performance.
According to the coaching staff, these results allow us to identify important progress in the sports process, as well as aspects to continue strengthening, especially in pure speed tests, technical skills and collective strategies.
With these achievements, the University of Cundinamarca reaffirms its commitment to comprehensive sports training, promoting the development of youth talent and strengthening the competitive projection of its athletes in departmental and national settings.
