The University of Cundinamarca is honored to have the participation of the coaching staff of the Colombian Under-17 National Team in the training session, an opportunity to inform participants about the upcoming launch of the UCundinamarca Sports Club. “This means we will begin to form the department's sports family, hoping to contribute from academia to the nation's sports development,” emphasized Pedro Nel Quintero, dean of the Faculty of Sports Science and Physical Education.

For his part, Orlando Restrepo, the head coach of the Colombian U-17 National Team, commented that he is happy to be able to contribute and be part of these spaces for growth and learning at the academy. He also took the opportunity to mention that he is creating a playing model that aims to ensure the entire team is physically, technically, and strategically prepared for the challenge that awaits the team in October.

“The teams we are going to face are world-class and have great physical strength, so we are basing our strategy on the offensive and defensive phases, defensive-to-attacking transitions, attacking-to-defensive transitions, set pieces, and game reading,” the coach added.

Currently the Colombian national team has 24 players, however in September the coach of the Colombian Under-17 team, Orlando, will announce the official roster that will play in the World Cup.

To conclude the event, Omar Osorio, director of training at the Colombian Football Federation, urged the training attendees to keep in mind that the trainer and educator should not focus their attention on the technique of young people, but rather on their sporting and competitive spirit, on the maturity of the game, as well as on the pleasure of playing.
