Within the framework of strengthening sports and institutional coordination with the territory, the institution received official sports recognition for the UCundinamarca Girardot Sectional Club, granted by the Municipal Mayor's Office for the multi-sport discipline.
The event was led by the Secretary of Sports and Recreation of Girardot, Ángela María Tovar, and included the participation of the Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, Óscar Adolfo Niño; the Director of the Academic Sports Center (CAD), Nubia Yaneth Arias García; the Director of the Girardot Branch, Miguel Ángel Ávila Díaz; the Sports Coordinator of the UCundinamarca Club, Brayan David Murcia; and with the support of the university professional Jorge Eduardo Sánchez.
This recognition represents a significant step forward in consolidating formative sports processes in the municipality, promoting spaces that integrate education, physical activity, and social development.
The Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, Óscar Adolfo Niño, highlighted that this achievement materializes the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT), reaffirming the institutional commitment to the formation of the transhuman person and the permanent interaction between academia and the territory.
As he explained, the Sports Club becomes a direct bridge between the university and the community, generating positive impacts on the health, integral development and life projects of children and young people in Girardot through the values of sport.
He also noted that the club functions as a "living laboratory" for students, who find there a real environment where they validate theory through practice, strengthening skills in leadership, sports management, training and promotion of healthy habits.
The dean added that this scenario also allows for the building of intergenerational links, consolidating educational processes that transcend the classroom and contribute to the social well-being of the territory.
For her part, the director of the Academic Sports Center (CAD), Nubia Yaneth Arias García, explained that the sports recognition will be valid for five years and will allow the expansion of the sports offering in the municipality.
Among the available disciplines are football in different categories, volleyball and push bike, a pedal-less balance bike designed to strengthen motor skills, coordination and body control in children, thus expanding sports training opportunities from an early age.
This progress confirms the joint work between the University of Cundinamarca and the municipal administration, aligned with the Rector's Plan and the Girardot Development Plan, consolidating scenarios that promote human development, inclusion and comprehensive training.
With this recognition, the University continues to strengthen its presence in the territory, demonstrating that sport is a tool for social transformation, meaningful learning and collective construction of opportunities for new generations.
