Persistence and patience have been two fundamental tools for Claudia Camacho, a graduate of the Business Administration program at the Chía Extension, to start her own business, and she combined this with the direction of the Center for Innovation, Technology and Organizational Management – CITGO, who studied and directed the initial idea.
“My sister and I started this project without knowing anything about the subject; I was still a student, and from the beginning, Professor Jorge Rico from CITGO supported us with advice that, to this day, has been very useful to us,” explained the graduate.
“At CITGO, we provide guidance so that business ideas can become sustainable ventures in the short and long term. We contribute our knowledge and advice, but it depends on the hard work of the entrepreneurs,” the professor explained.
Claudia assures that at the Belleza y Glamour distributor, they not only sell beauty products, but also advise people so that the products they acquire give them a benefit and thus they return because of the customer service experience and honesty.
“The guidance and support we received from CITGO were crucial to getting started, as they made us aware of the importance of using technology. Currently, our inventories, purchases, and sales are digitized; in other words, everything is managed through a system that allows us to maintain order and understand our customers,” the graduate explained.
The Camacho sisters' business venture started as a backup plan, an additional way to earn income. However, Claudia's management skills and the love they both put into it allowed it to grow and become a distributor that is now a major source of family income.
“Our clients are people from the municipality who need beauty advice, men and women who want to get treatments and don't know what to buy. For us, honesty is fundamental; here we advise people so they can make a good purchase.”.
Beauty salons and stylists also come to the Belleza y Glamour Distributor, which is located on 7th Street with 10th Avenue in the municipality of Chía, they have home service and advice on beauty issues.
Unity is strength
Claudia and her sister have complemented each other to make this venture sustainable over time and economically profitable. "Initially, we reinvested what we earned; we have been very careful with finances and we know that the success of our business is the love and unity between us.".
The graduate's main inspiration is her two children; they fill her with love so that, despite the difficulties and how hard it is to start a business and have a full-time job, they have a good future.
The entrepreneur tells those who have a business idea not to give up, to pursue their projects and dreams, to seek support, and that if they believe in it, they will achieve it with discipline and effort.
What is CITGO?
It is the Center for Innovation, Technology, and Organizational Management, led by Professor Jorge Rico. For the past three years, it has promoted entrepreneurship and provided consulting services to help young people with business ideas develop them or improve existing businesses.
“This initiative originated from the Faculty of Administrative, Economic and Accounting Sciences at the Chía Extension and has grown to encompass the headquarters, extensions and branches, in accordance with the translocation established in the MEDIT,” the professor explained.
