CITGO invites you to a conference

In 2017, at the Chía campus, through University Social Interaction (ISU), the CITGO Entrepreneurship and Innovation Field, and the Business Administration program, a project was launched to inspire and encourage entrepreneurship among students, faculty, graduates, and the community at large by sharing the success stories of prominent Colombian figures. To date, nine conferences have been held, and the next one will take place on May 16th at 2 pm with entrepreneur Arturo Calle.

“This activity is directly related to MEDIT, since its purpose is for students to see the importance of being good agents of change who contribute to society and the country,” said Juan Carlos Santos, a Business Administration teacher and Social Projection Leader.

Who is Arturo Calle?

Don Arturo Calle was born in Medellín, Colombia, "the city of eternal spring".

His early years were spent in the Manrique neighborhood, one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Medellín. Later, he moved to a beautiful country estate in the Robledo neighborhood.

From a young age, Don Arturo Calle showed himself to be a different kind of person; his uncles used to tell him “If you direct your actions along the path of good, you will surely go very far.”. And so it was, following the advice of his uncles, Arturo has consolidated an empire of more than 80 locations in Latin America, 4500 direct jobs and more than 12000 indirect jobs.

These were some of the distinguished guests:

Juan Eduardo Jaramillo – Journalist, professor and presenter with awards for best news presenter in Colombia; with the conference entitled “How to stay relevant despite the circumstances”.

Juan Manuel Barrientos – Chef and entrepreneur, the first Colombian to take a Colombian cuisine restaurant to win a Michelin star, his conference at UDEC was called, “How to do disruptive innovation”.

Ignacio Orrego Rojo – speaker, professor in 24 countries, writer and consultant for the International Labour Organization (ILO), brought the conference “How to be a winner” to UCundinamarca.

Iván Sánchez Vásquez – Bogota artist and musician, founder of the orchestra Iván y sus Band Band, winner of eleven platinum and seven gold records, presented his conference “Beyond Resilience”.
