The celebration began with a Mass and a greeting from the institution's rector, Adriano Muñoz Barrera, who emphasized the institution's vision of defending life, values, and the human being above any belief. "We educate for the development of being rather than doing; that's why we've shifted from professional models to those that involve transforming the individual into an agent of struggle aimed at achieving progress for the region and the country," the rector stated.
The student community was enthusiastic and proud of the growth of their alma mater and of this celebration that allows reflection on the path and vision of the institution, which despite all the difficulties over five decades has remained firm fulfilling the dream of 32,000 graduates to be professionals, who have wanted to leave a relevant legacy for their generations.
And as with any heartfelt celebration, there was cake and a toast, which, beyond being a traditional dessert, represents the affection and pride that defines us as the UDEC generation. The celebration, which began at 3:00 pm and included recognition of graduates, administrative staff, and professors, as well as the symbolic inauguration of the time capsule, concluded at 8:30 pm on November 8th.
