CGCA of the Ubaté branch awards best bibliographic mural

By: Carolina Rojas Cendales

Books are the perfect tool for the imagination, as stories immerse us in an unreal world, bringing us closer to real life and everyday experiences. When we read a book, we open our minds and, therefore, develop critical and creative thinking. To encourage reading, the Knowledge Management and Learning Center (CGCA) of the Ubaté branch held the "Bibliographic Mural" contest.

The goal of the activity was for participants to create an illustration representing their favorite book or story. Administrative staff, teachers, and students participated. “I illustrated the book *La Bruja* by Germán Castro Caicedo. I chose to illustrate it because, many years ago, when I read it, I was struck by the realization that there are despicable people in the world and parents who must pay for their children's mistakes. The message of my illustration is that we, as children, must be empathetic toward our parents,” said Liliana Agudelo, a Citizen Information and Services Manager and second-place winner of the contest.

“The murals were evaluated based on their content, symbolism, graphic language, aesthetics, creativity, and originality,” said John Henry Vásquez, a judge in the competition.

The first place was awarded to the illustration Blood of Champion, anonymous author.
