The Faculty of Health Sciences held two symbolic events: the lighting ceremony for fourth-semester students, which symbolizes their commitment to vocation and service in their future work; and the community service ceremony for third-semester students, who will be tasked with promoting healthy habits and lifestyles in vulnerable families and communities to improve their quality of life.
The traditional passing of the light ceremony consists of the teachers of our nursing students lighting a lamp, where they can take a little of the light of their teachers and carry it as a guide in nursing care in the hospital environment.
The passage of light has its origin with the English nurse Florence Nightingale, a pioneer of modern nursing, who carried a small lamp to care for the wounded in combat during the Crimean War.
Furthermore, the community processes ceremony aims to develop planned activities for comprehensive health care, targeting vulnerable communities in the city, in order to promote good healthy lifestyle practices and offer comprehensive health care and improve the quality of life for individuals, families, and the community.
The event was presided over by the dean, Ricardo Acosta, the Nursing program coordinator Sandra Carmona, teachers and family members.
