The University of Cundinamarca commemorates its 55th anniversary with the Cundinamarca Music Encounter 2025. This cultural event will take place on September 10th at the Fusagasugá campus. The celebration will also pay tribute to the birth of Maestro Emilio Sierra Baquero, recognized as the father of the rumba criolla, which has been declared the native rhythm of Fusagasugá and is commemorated annually with a festival in his honor.
The Senior Management, with the support of the Institutional Planning Department, invites students, graduates, collaborators, Knowledge and Learning Managers, and the university community to participate in this experience that will recognize the effort and dedication of those who have made the growth of the institution possible.
During the meeting, attendees will be able to experience an interactive tour that will cover the most important milestones of the university since its creation in 1969 as ITUC, including the opening of the campuses in Fusagasugá, Ubaté and Girardot, the construction of the main campus in 1976, the creation of the ITUC Research Center in 1981, among other important moments in the institutional history.
The day will also feature artistic and cultural presentations, including the participation of the Plucked String Orchestra with Colombian music from the Cundiboyacense highlands, led by Maestro Adalberto Pardo.
Likewise, the event will feature the participation of the Fusagasugá Culture Secretariat, a performance by the Dulce Orquídea Peasant Music group, a special presentation alluding to the Rumba Criolla, and other artistic and cultural expressions.
With this experience, the University of Cundinamarca reaffirms its commitment to culture, historical memory and the comprehensive education of its university community.
