A working group was established to discuss the Girardot Sectional Development Stamp.

On May 26, at the Girardot Municipal Council facilities, the UCundinamarca Girardot branch, represented by the Administrative Director, Fredy Valdés García, the Graduate Representative to the University Superior Council, Mario Fernando Ortiz Almanza, the student representatives, Juan David Cetina Parra, Alison Gutiérrez and Jhonatan Gómez, directors and professors of the academic programs, met with council members Marleny Orjuela (president of the board) and Edgar Valdés Ortegón (vice president), and with Orlando Carvajal (head of budget of the mayor's office) and Carlos Rozo (treasurer of the mayor's office), in order to begin the working groups scheduled within the framework of the accountability of the pro development stamp of the University of Cundinamarca for the month of March of this year.

Come Together English Day

The Bachelor's Degree Program in Basic Education with an emphasis in Humanities: Spanish and English, held the "Come Together English Day" event on May 23 and 24 at the Girardot campus. The event, led by students and English teachers from the program, included the participation of YMCA leaders, presentations of educational projects conducted with children and students in the region in English, and an information session about participating in immersion programs abroad, such as the International Camp Counselor and Summer Work and Travel programs.

“Decide and act positively” campaign”

The Nursing program at UCundinamarca – Girardot Campus participated in the "Decide and Act Positively" campaign, addressing topics such as teenage pregnancy prevention and sexually transmitted infection prevention, in partnership with the Cundinamarca Governor's Office, the Cundinamarca Health Secretariat, and the Girardot Health Secretariat. Special recognition was given to the work of faculty members Carlota Castro, Cindy Ordoñez, and German Pinzón, as well as the third- and tenth-semester students of the program, who dedicated their effort and commitment to supporting this important event in the municipality of Girardot.

Seminar “Benefits and impacts of implementing an OSHMS”.

En la UCundinamarca, el Director de la Seccional Girardot, Fredy Valdés García, convocó al Seminario “Beneficios e impactos de la implementación de un Sistema de Gestión de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo”, en alianza con Quaility Forum. Los ponentes del seminario fueron Nelcy Báez Álvarez, con la conferencia “Impactos de la implementación de un Sistema de Gestión de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo”; Rodrigo Vera Jaimes, presidente de la Red Internacional de Expertos de Calidad y Excelencia Quaility Forum, con la conferencia titulada “La seguridad y salud en el trabajo: un compromiso de todos”, y la enfermera especialista en gerencia de seguridad y salud en el trabajo, Marcela Bermúdez Valdés, con la conferencia “Aspectos generales de la legislación en salud laboral”. Las pausas activas se realizaron bajo la coordinación del docente de deportes, licenciado Henry Gaviria Ávila, especialista en entrenamiento deportivo.

UCundinamarca Health Week

Nursing students, the University Welfare Health Unit, and the Friendly Unit recently held an extensive event called HEALTH WEEK, aimed at students, faculty, administrative staff, and the community in general. CASSA UDEC provided support in chronic patient management and cardiovascular follow-up, while the Secretariat of Economic Development addressed body image and self-esteem.

Total success at the 2nd UCundinamarca Recycling Marathon

The event was organized by the Environmental Management Office, with the participation of faculty and students from the Environmental Engineering program at UCundinamarca, Girardot Campus. Members of the entire university community participated, collecting over 220 kilograms of recyclables and awarding prizes to participants in this important activity for our institution, which further solidifies our commitment to becoming a Green University: Generation 21.

Language Day at UCundinamarca

El programa de Inglés de áreas transversales de la Seccional Girardot realizó la “Experiencia Bilingüe Cantando”, a cargo de los estudiantes de Administración de Empresas y Enfermería con la profesora Lorena Ortiz Cardozo. La actividad contó con la presencia de las extranjeras Mhairi Christina Shilton y Alexa Charlotte de Inglaterra, Anne Berners de Alemania y Caterina Zischke de los Estados Unidos, hablantes de lengua inglesa, invitadas a interactuar con la comunidad de la UCundinamarca, tanto en inglés, como en español, en un contexto de aprendizaje diferente a los salones de clases, motivando a los estudiantes a perder el temor de comunicarse en otro idioma, mediante la expresión artística musical, cantando en inglés canciones del folclor colombiano, en ritmo vallenato y bolero, así como temas en lengua extranjera mundialmente conocidos.
