Call for Innovation

On September 7th, in the Emilio Sierra auditorium (Fusagasugá), the Faculty of Engineering held the 4th Regional Meeting of Science and Technology with the participation of speakers from the Institute of Technology, Canada, the University of the Andes, Javeriana and National.

With this meeting, the University assumes the responsibility of promoting the development of science, technology and innovation, and of critical, reflective and analytical capacity, which contributes to the national scientific and technological advancement and strengthening.

With the priority being the cultural improvement and quality of life of the population, participation in the search for alternative solutions to the problems and the social and economic progress of the country, explained the dean of the Faculty of Engineering of UCundinamarca, Wilson Joven Sarria.

For his part, Darío Correal, PhD, lecturer, and research professor at the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering of the University of Los Andes, in his talk on “Next Generation Architectures”, invited students to take on new challenges in software in technology projects developed in real time in order to provide operational and administrative solutions in companies.

The presenter Álvaro Joffre Uribe, PhD, University Of Ontario Institute Of Technology, Canada, focused his talk on “State of the art and challenges for developing immersive VR and mixed reality games” in the field of virtual reality towards the development of applications that take advantage of immersion and interaction while designing and employing emerging technologies and game elements in training and learning scenarios.

The conferences related to the application of mathematics in industrial and sustainable development processes were led by Juan Gabriel Ramírez, PhD, Nanomagnetism Laboratory, University of the Andes, who spoke about “Quantum correlations in solids and their role in the design of new materials for energy”; Jorge Mauricio Ruiz, PhD, from the Department of Mathematics, National University of Colombia, directed his talk about “the mathematics behind technology”; and Germán Andrés Combariza, PhD, from the Pontifical Javeriana University, presented the usefulness of search and matching algorithms.

The topic of communication theory, wireless networks, traffic and urban transport was covered by speaker Daniel Jaramillo Ramírez, PhD, from the Pontifical Javeriana University.
