Since September, the branch has had a new director, engineer Miguel Ávila, who has strived to instill teamwork among the administrative staff so that institutional achievements have a greater impact and benefit the entire community.
News Agency: How did the academic community receive you in your new role as Administrative Director of the Branch?
Miguel Ángel Ávila Díaz: I have high expectations of seeing what the scope of management can be in my new role as director, which I assumed on September 1, 2022. In these first months, I have strived to establish precedents of harmonious work and teamwork in the educational community.
News Agency: In what activities has this teamwork already been reflected?
Miguel Ángel Ávila Díaz: We had a visit from ICONTEC for ISO 14001 certification, as well as a visit from academic peers for the creation of the Software Engineering program and for the renewal of the qualified registration of the Business Administration program. Teamwork allowed us to achieve successful results from these important visits, and I hope that the expectations of the academic community regarding the leadership I have demonstrated in these processes, and the leadership I will demonstrate in those to come, will be met.
News Agency: Regarding the inclusion approach, we understand that there has been significant progress. What is it?
Miguel Ángel Ávila Díaz: Yes. We have tried to foster closer ties with the community by creating inclusive architectural spaces that allow for the mobility of all members of the educational community, regardless of their mode of transportation. Fourteen ramps were built in different locations throughout the campus, complying with the regulations required by the Ministry of Health.
News Agency: What management advances are projected for 2023?
Miguel Ángel Ávila Díaz: A key issue is obtaining high-quality accreditation for our branch campus. To that end, we will submit the necessary projects to the University's project bank. This will allow some projects to be carried out in 2023 or secure funding for their execution in 2024. Among the required projects are the construction of a new entrance gate for the branch campus, the renovation of the Student Welfare building, compliance with RETIE standards for the electrical system to facilitate the adaptation of classrooms with climate control, and the implementation of natural wastewater treatment systems.
