ASCUN Medellín National Games Summary

From August 13 to 18, the University of Cundinamarca participated in the fifth edition of the ASCUN 2025 National University Games, held in Medellín, bringing together administrators and Knowledge and Learning Managers from higher education institutions throughout the country.

Dr. María Margarita Moya González, Director of University Welfare, highlighted the representation of 71 athletes from the regional units of Girardot, Soacha, Facatativá, Zipaquirá and Fusagasugá, who competed in disciplines such as women's futsal, basketball, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, athletics, swimming, tejo and mini tejo.

“Beyond the achievements, participation in these spaces seeks to instill values such as discipline, commitment, leadership, teamwork and a sense of belonging, strengthening the physical and mental health of our university community,” said Moya González.

The overall assessment was positive, with results that reflected commitment and talent:

Tennis: bronze medal in men's doubles (Pedro Alexander Suárez and Elvis Yonjan Cortés).

Swimming: silver medal in 100 meters breaststroke (Manuel Mosquera Toncon).

Athletics:

  • Gold in javelin throw (Laguandio del Cristo Banda Sánchez).
  • Silver in the 100 meters flat (Laguandio del Cristo Banda Sánchez).
  • Silver in long jump (Laguandio del Cristo Banda Sánchez).
  • Bronze in the 200 meters flat (Laguandio del Cristo Banda Sánchez).

The participants' testimonials highlighted the experience. Luisa Fernanda Galeano, an employee at the Facatativá campus, said that representing the University in table tennis was "a unique and unforgettable experience, which allowed us to connect with colleagues from different campuses and strengthen team spirit.".

For her part, Anyi Lorena Colmenares Galeano, Knowledge Manager, stated: “I feel proud and grateful to represent the University in this enriching space, which strengthened our leadership and commitment to the institution.”.

The participation of the University of Cundinamarca in the ASCUN 2025 National Games reaffirms its commitment to sports, comprehensive education and the well-being of its university community.
