This is how the Environmental Engineering program is progressing

By: Miguel Ángel Ávila Díaz

Coordinator of the Environmental Engineering program.

The Environmental Engineering program is advancing in the consolidation of the new learning path, based on the approval of the Ministry of National Education (MEN) and the implementation of MEDIT (Transmodern Digital Educational Model), which aims to provide society with professionals in Environmental Engineering with the skills to meet the challenges presented by society and in accordance with the training trends of ACOFI and the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.

It is worth highlighting that the training and learning process in relation to MEDIT has allowed the digitization of the CADIs of the learning path and the appropriation of the tools that the model itself offers us, such as the CMA (multidimensional learning fields), based on the translocality of the development of our area of knowledge.

In this way, the program and the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences transform the reality of students by changing traditional schemes in different spaces or fields of learning at the university, integrated into the work and reality of the territory.

The challenge in this measure is directed, from the search for solutions to environmental problems with the execution of University Social Interaction and Science, Technology and Innovation projects, where from the joint work with students, teachers and the external sector we detect the problems that must be addressed by the social interaction team from the projects such as resident cities and adaptation to climate change, among others.

Regarding the execution of projects, the faculty has applied to internal calls for proposals and to Colciencias, where in the near future it hopes to guarantee the quality of the environment in specific sectors associated with the area of influence of the University of Cundinamarca.
