The Cundinamarca Assembly approved an increase in the Pro-Development Stamp from 0.5% to 1.5%

  • With the The Pro-development Stamp for the University of Cundinamarca will increase from $2 billion to $5.5 billion, representing an annual increase of $3.5 billion.

Following the required debates in plenary and committee, the Cundinamarca Assembly approved the increase of the Pro-development Stamp from 0.5% to 1.5%, intended for the financing of the accreditation of academic programs, institutional accreditation, strengthening of research and infrastructure.

The institution's mission is made possible thanks to the support of Governor Jorge Emilio Rey Ángel, who championed the project to increase resources for the University of Cundinamarca. establishment, exposure and leadership Rector Adriano Muñoz Barrera addressed the Departmental Assembly during the debates.

It is worth noting that students played a crucial role during the debates that led to the department's 16 representatives approving the increase in the stamp tax. During the debates, the students explained the importance of public education, particularly the need to strengthen the University of Cundinamarca (UCundinamarca) in its various areas (academics, research, infrastructure, innovation, technology, among others), to fulfill its mission of training well-rounded professionals with academic, scientific, and humanistic skills, as required by the department of Cundinamarca and the country.

The increase from 0.5% to 1.5% of the Pro-Development Stamp for the University of Cundinamarca will raise the total from $2 billion to $5.5 billion, representing an annual increase of $3.5 billion. Of this, 30% will be allocated for investment in the maintenance, expansion, and modernization of the physical plant, including future expansions and construction; another 30% for the development and modernization of the technological infrastructure for information technology solutions, virtual platforms, communications, digitization, and virtual education; 20% for strengthening scientific research; 5% for modernizing and equipping laboratories; 5% for modernizing and equipping libraries and the publishing fund; 5% for modernizing the document archive center; and 5% for strengthening the special program of academic and student scholarships.

The increase is set in the Ordinance 078 of December 12, 2018, which modifies article 313 of Ordinance 216 of 2014. It states that all acts and documents with a value, taxed with the Pro-development Stamp of the University of Cundinamarca, which correspond to those stated in numeral 1 of article 283 of the chapter.
