On July 8, a significant meeting was held at the Girardot branch between Mayor Salomón Said, the Rector of the University of Cundinamarca, Dr. Adriano Muñoz Barrera, the coordinators of the different academic programs and the Director of Institutional Research, Dr. John Alexander Moreno.
As a result of this meeting, the directors of the institutions agreed to support the expansion of the branch's infrastructure, back research, and establish a joint collaboration with municipal departments, as well as participate in internal calls for proposals that promote the development of the territory.
Furthermore, the support provided by the University of Cundinamarca for the Saber 11 standardized tests was analyzed, including the provision of resources and the development of initiatives to address the performance gaps among students on these tests. Additionally, a mentoring program for ninth through eleventh grade students was proposed to encourage their participation in university programs, beginning with a collaboration with a public school in Girardot.
On the other hand, the possibility of establishing an alliance for the creation of an organic waste recovery system and the generation of a nursery was analyzed, led by the Secretariat of Agriculture and Environment of the municipality of Girardot in conjunction with Environmental Engineering programs and the Environmental Management System of the university.
