A meeting with sport and nature in Soacha

Last Friday, October 22nd, the university community in Soacha participated in the "Tres Cerritos Hike," an activity organized by the Sports Science and Physical Education program, through the Cultural Learning Field (CAC) Physical Activity for Life. The hike incorporated themes such as well-being, health, nature, and territory. "We decided to hold the activity for several reasons: firstly, to create a space for integration within the Soacha campus community, after more than a year and a half of using technology as a mediator, and secondly, to take advantage of University Week," explained Luis Rafael Hutchison Salazar, coordinator of the Sports Science and Physical Education program.

The official also stated that the Physical Activity for Life Center (CAC) is committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle. The walk included various engaging activities for the university community, allowing participants to enjoy the municipality's diverse landscapes and ecosystems, as well as take a break from technology and socialize.

The tour began at the UCundinamarca campus and continued on foot to the rural area of Soacha, allowing the 350 participants to enjoy, explore, and connect with the region. “The reception from the students and administrative staff was as expected. We had to close registration due to protocols and general safety concerns. We are grateful to the Soacha Institute for Recreation and Sports, who accompanied and supported our outing.”.

Activities for everyone

Upon arriving at the destination, there was a moment for reflection and motivation among the participants, encouraging them to consider the possibility of holding these types of events more frequently. Afterward, they divided into groups for activities including choreography, recreation, relaxation, meditation, and talks to learn more about the history of the municipality.

Amidst sports and nature, a tribute was held for Dominic Rojas García, a student in the Sports Science and Physical Education program at the Soacha campus, who passed away a few days ago. “In this space, we commemorate life, and for this reason, we paid a heartfelt tribute to Dominic, raising awareness among students about the importance of diversity, respect, and family.”.
