The Institution continues to consolidate its international projection; the Industrial Engineering program of the Soacha Extension managed to place among the five best teams of the ACEEU Resilient Ventures Hackathon, an international competition of innovation and entrepreneurship that brought together representatives of 30 universities from different countries, in an experience developed entirely virtually and mediated by technology.
The meeting was organized by the Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial and Engaged Universities (ACEEU), based in Germany, and brought together students, coaches and experts from higher education institutions from different continents to design innovative solutions to global challenges, through collaborative work methodologies, international mentoring and digital tools such as Microsoft Teams and MURAL.
The University of Cundinamarca was represented by Opportunity Creator David Santiago Zapata Vargas, a ninth-semester Industrial Engineering student, who was part of an international team that successfully overcame all stages of the challenge, from building the business proposal and developing the executive pitch to the evaluation carried out by an international jury.
Dr. Miguel Alejandro Flechas Montaño, Dean of the Faculty of Administrative, Economic, and Accounting Sciences, emphasized that this result demonstrates the quality of the education students receive and proves that the University possesses the academic and human capabilities to compete successfully in high-level international arenas. “This recognition confirms that our students are prepared to respond to global challenges through innovation, entrepreneurship, and collaborative work. Furthermore, it strengthens our internationalization strategy and demonstrates that the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT) trains professionals for life, capable of generating solutions with social impact in any context worldwide,” stated the Dean.
Participation allowed for the sharing of experiences with internationally renowned universities from Europe, Asia, and Africa, strengthening intercultural learning, academic cooperation, global entrepreneurship networks, and the exchange of knowledge around business resilience and sustainable development.
As a result, the team in which the Industrial Engineering student participated obtained a ranking among the top five in the hackathon, received the official certification of merit awarded by the ACEEU organization, and had its proposal recognized as one of the most solid and innovative in the competition, among the 30 participants selected internationally.
This achievement strengthens the international standing of the University of Cundinamarca and the Industrial Engineering program at the Soacha Extension, while providing evidence for the institutional internationalization process and reaffirming the commitment to training Opportunity Creators, capable of transforming global challenges into innovative solutions for the development of territories.
