This December 9th marks the start of the Fusagasugá Film Festival (Ficfusa), an opportunity for our University of Cundinamarca community to connect with the seventh art and with the themes of women and territory, which are the focus of this event, which closes on December 15th with an awards gala.
It is worth mentioning that this is the eighth edition of the festival, whose program includes everything from the screening of feature films and short films to conferences such as the Anniversary of MUSA (Movement of women in the audiovisual sector of Colombia), which will be held on December 10 at the chamber of commerce of the municipality.
Another noteworthy activity at Ficfusa is its opening today, December 9th, at 6 pm in the Avenida shopping center, where the film "Sumercé" by Victoria Solano will be screened for the entire community. This documentary is a tribute to social leaders who fight for access to clean water in their communities.
It is also important to mention that the festival features a selection of around 35 films of different lengths and from various countries, including: “Atemporal” by Nathalia Bohórquez Alviades, “Oficio” by Mónica Herrera Rey, “XAEM Memorias del mañana” by Felipe Peñaloza, “Elipsis” by Paola González, “Claudia” by Jessica Dottor, “En el cielo nos encontraremos” by Nicolas Bernal, “Sueños y perseverancia” by John Orion, “The Watcher” by Juan Sebastián Álzate Castiblanco, “Amadís” by Yurany Andrea Cepeda Galindo, and “Bienvenido” by Mateo Santana.
“My Artwork” by Edwin Germán Gutiérrez, “Recycling Hopes” by Laura Camila Guzmán Rodríguez, “Our Moor that art on earth” by Carlos Alberto Carmona Cárdenas, “Night of the Chicken Dead” by Luis Alexander Diaz, “Ondine” by Ana María Guzmán Ramírez, “Andresito and Capataz in a story called Funza” by Patricia González, “Communication” by Edison Durán Sánchez and “Fuck Fusa Sk8 Dreams” by Steven Morenos Pinzón.
It is worth noting that the 100% of these audiovisual pieces that have just been mentioned were directed by artists from different municipalities of our department, from Villeta to Tena and Soacha and Cajicá, and that on December 15 at 6 pm, during the awards gala they will receive recognition at the La Querencia shopping center (Calle 25 # 42-48), so it is an event that cannot be missed in Fusagasugá.
Also, it should be mentioned that the films: “To Have or Not to Have” by Alba Morín (Spain), “All The Souls” by Roberto Lozano Bruna (India, Malaysia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Spain), “Elvira De Hidalgo. Donare La Divinità” by Vicky Calavia (Italy, Spain), “Salir de Puta” by Sofia Rocha (Argentina) and “La Frontera” by David David (Colombia), are selected in the 'Women' category and will be screened during the six days of the festival.
Clearly, Ficfusa is an opportunity for our Ucundinamarca community, which has been working on social issues through research, translocality, and MEDIT, to see how these same interests are addressed through film and the diverse narratives offered by its formats. So don't miss the eighth edition of the festival; and if you'd like to see the full program, you can visit ficfusa.com.
