Accounting Program held awareness day

“(…)In a globalized and borderless world, success The CP will not be complete if it does not align what think, what he does and what he says to a north decisive and firm in its own values and practices that strengthens it and ensures its permanence and Strength of its reputation (...)”.

The Public Accounting program in Ubaté, with the aim of bringing closer the organizations that guide the Accounting profession in the country, developed a professional awareness day with the academic community.

With nearly 100% participation from members of the program's academic community, two activities were carried out with the team delegated by the Central Board of Accountants. The first focused on raising awareness among a sample of ten ninth-semester students through the workshop “Focus Group“In this sense, the aim was to establish the user experience when carrying out a procedure through the website http://www.jcc.gov.co/. One of the participating students was Carlos Alberto Rodríguez Lucas, who commented on the matter:

“On May 2nd, the Central Board of Accountants conducted a training session for 10 students in the Public Accounting program at the University of Cundinamarca (UCundinamarca Ubaté). The session was rewarding and highly productive. The main topic covered was the process of obtaining a professional license for the first time as an individual. The training highlighted the technological advancements and ease of acquiring the license online through the Central Board of Accountants' website, "http://www.jcc.gov.co/". While there had been some initial uncertainty about the process, it was ultimately demonstrated that, provided all the requirements were met, it is extremely simple.

It was of great importance to acquire knowledge about this process, because many students have countless doubts about it, and the tips discussed to expedite the process and avoid JCC requirements for providing incomplete information or various errors that can be made make it even easier to carry out the procedure.”.

The second activity was led by CPA Eric de Jesús Flores, who presented his dissertation entitled "Social Responsibility and Professional Ethics of the Public Accountant." His talk focused on the main errors that new professionals make in the practice of their profession and the consequences (sanctions) that can result from poor accounting practices.

Ricardo Andrés Rodríguez, CPA and Coordinator of the program in the Ubaté branch, invited the entire accounting community to reflect on the significant challenges inherent in the professional practice of accounting. This includes the demands society places on accounting professionals regarding their well-known vocation: serving the public interest and fulfilling their responsibility as guarantors of public trust.

Furthermore, as highlighted by CPA Pedro Luis Bohórquez, "The accounting profession must declare its intention to fulfill its obligations to society, to serve it with loyalty and diligence, and to respect itself."“[1]. Under such a condition, it is a requirement “sine qua non” that the entire accounting profession adopts the highest ethical standards to guide and direct its actions.
