Access to higher education is possible

The University of Cundinamarca, the only public institution in the department with a presence in seven municipalities, opened its academic offerings for the second semester of 2024 on April 1st.

The registration period for undergraduate programs will be open until May 15th. Diana Milena Rey Gutiérrez, head of the Admissions and Registration Office, explained that “the Institution adheres to the Ministry of National Education's policy of Free Higher Education and that those interested must meet the requirements to access free education.”.

The official stated that students wishing to access the Free Tuition policy must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be enrolled in an undergraduate academic program (professional technical, technological or university) at a public Higher Education Institution.
  2. Not possessing a university professional degree.
  3. Demonstrate membership in one of the following groups:
  • Socioeconomic stratum 1, 2, 3 or no stratum.
  • Indigenous population.
  • Roma population.
  • Black, Afro-Colombian, Raizal and Palenquera communities.
  • Population victimized by the conflict.
  • Population with disabilities.
  • Peasant communities.
  • Population deprived of liberty.
  • Groups A, B or C of the Sisbén IV, in any of its subgroups.

It is worth noting that the University of Cundinamarca offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in areas such as:

The Faculty of Administrative, Economic and Accounting Sciences offers Business Administration in the regional units of Fusagasugá, Girardot, Ubaté, Chía, and Facatativá. It also offers the program of Public Accounting, at the headquarters in Fusagasugá, Ubaté, Chía and Facatativá.

For its part, the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences offers: Agronomic Engineering in Fusagasugá and Facatativá, Environmental Engineering in Girardot and Facatativá, Animal Science in Fusagasugá and Ubaté.

Meanwhile, the Faculty of Sports Science and Physical Education offers a program to train as Sports Science Professional in Soacha and the Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Recreation and Sports at the Fusagasugá headquarters.

Similarly, the Faculty of Education provides the Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences in Fusagasugá.

The Faculty of Engineering has Systems and Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering at the Fusagasugá headquarters, Industrial Engineering in Soacha and Chía, Software Engineering in Soacha and Girardot.

The Faculty of Health Sciences offers the Program of Professional Nursing in the Girardot branch and the Program of Psychology in the Facatativá extension.

Finally, the Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities and Political Science has the Program of Music in the Zipaquirá Extension.
