ACADEMIC COUNCIL APPROVES LANGUAGE CENTER “LEARNING LANGUAGES FOR LIFE IN THE 21ST CENTURY” of the University of Cundinamarca

Through Agreement 026 of 2022, the Academic Council of the University of Cundinamarca approves the new Language Center for the institution, which is called “LEARNING LANGUAGES FOR LIFE IN THE 21st CENTURY” as an Academic Unit attached to the School of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Political Science, for the promotion, knowledge management, training and language learning within the framework of the MEDIT Transmodern Digital Educational Model.

The new Language Center will be responsible for managing language training and learning processes for undergraduate and postgraduate students, professors, officials of the University of Cundinamarca and external users who demand it, through courses, tutoring, advising, summer camps and related activities, as well as developing research or social interaction processes related to language learning within the framework of the translocal lines of research declared by the University of Cundinamarca, and providing advisory or consulting services in language training and learning; To attend, when required by the faculties or the postgraduate institute of the University, to requests for validation exams for undergraduate and postgraduate students to meet the foreign language requirements within the different academic programs; to manage activities for internationalization related to language training and learning, international studies courses, mobility programs, strategic and cooperation alliances with international institutions and organizations, transcultural, scientific and academic spaces, within the framework of the processes defined by the institutional policy "Dialoguing with the World"; and to carry out international management to obtain technical and financial cooperation resources for the development of the initiatives of the University of Cundinamarca, its professors and students within the framework of language training and learning.

The Language Centre “LEARNING OF LANGUAGES FOR LIFE IN THE 21st CENTURY, “LanguageS21”, It will operate at the various campuses and branches of the University of Cundinamarca, namely: Fusagasugá, Chía, Facatativá, Girardot, Soacha, Ubaté, and Zipaquirá. The initial academic spaces of the Language Center to become operational will be those at the Fusagasugá, Facatativá, and Chía campuses. The remaining campuses will become operational gradually each year, starting from the issuance of this administrative act, as determined by the Language Center's Steering Committee, following a technical analysis of available resources.
