One of the Government's challenges is to improve and provide access to training in IT skills for Colombians, and to that end, it has launched a series of initiatives that will help to achieve that goal.
In fact, this Monday the Ministry of Information and Communications Technologies (MinTIC), through its Digital Talent initiative, opened the call for data science training for those Colombians who wish to complement their IT training.
According to Minister Silvia Constaín, the program aims to certify 500 people in this technology so that they can contribute to solving problems and generating innovative ideas to strengthen economic sectors during times of crisis recovery.
The same way, It seeks to promote the development of digital skills and competencies of Colombian talent; and enhance the competitiveness of companies, their growth potential in the market, and the positioning of data-driven products and services.
Thus, the call will be aimed at professionals who are in companies in the public or private sector and who work in roles such as leaders, managers, directors, coordinators, specialists, teachers, students or experts in digital skills.
Similarly, those interested in participating must have the necessary skills and competencies in programming, information analysis, statistics, mathematics, physics, chemistry, among others, which will be evaluated in a technical test that will allow the construction of the pool of eligible candidates.
The Ministry assured that those who benefited from the data science training provided by the Ministry in 2019 will not be able to participate in this call for applications, and will cover 100% of the cost of the training for the beneficiaries.
Those interested in being part of the pool of eligible candidates will have until April 22nd at 4:00 pm to register, for which they must meet the following requirements.
The demand for workers with data handling skills, such as data scientists and data engineers, has increased in recent years. According to an article published in The Royal Society, demand has increased by 231% And according to a labor market analysis focused on the dynamics of data science skills, the demand for these types of workers grew by 361% during the same period compared to 2018.
