The call for applications will be open until January 25, 2023, and is aimed at women in STEAM areas (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics).
The project, led by Geek Girls LatAm with the support of Visa, seeks to strengthen female talent in STEAM fields in Latin America through training courses and access to digital tools on educational platforms such as Coursera and Enko, in addition to mentoring programs and workshops focused on financial education.
One hundred and twenty women in Latin America will be able to receive completely free training in blockchain, data science, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity, gaming, soft skills, sales, marketing, languages and personal development, among other areas with high demand in today's job market.
Women interested in participating can apply through the following link https://bit.ly/BecasTalentos40 to be considered for selection to one of the two cohorts of the Talents 4.0 program. The first cohort will take place between February and May, while the second will take place between May and August.
Through this call, Visa joins Geek Girls LatAm to support the participation of young women entrepreneurs interested in strengthening their skills in STEAM areas, under the motto "opportunities for all, everywhere," promoted by its social area and its Equitable Access Initiative.
“We continue to join forces to increase the percentage of female workers in the technology industry, which is currently less than 20%. We thank all the people and entities that are joining the GGL to bring more young people and women closer to new opportunities and ways of relating to knowledge,” said Joanna Prieto, Director of the Talents 4.0 Program and co-founder of Geek Girls LatAm.
“At Visa, we are committed to supporting the economic advancement of women in Latin America and the Caribbean,” said Carlos Corominas, Regional Leader of Social Impact and Sustainability for Visa in Latin America and the Caribbean. “We are proud to work with organizations like Geek Girls LatAm to address the challenges women face through access to education and financial tools. Together, we are helping to create an inclusive and equitable economy for all.”.
The Talents 4.0 program is unique in Latin America, featuring an academic agenda of workshops and mentorships designed to meet the needs of young women seeking professional growth in the tech world. It combines strengths in social innovation, STEAM training, and networking within one of Latin America's leading women in technology communities.
Since its creation in 2021, more than 800 women from different countries, such as Isabel García, a political scientist by profession, who today is dedicated to data analysis, have participated in its calls and broadened their work horizon; venturing into sectors with high employability or starting businesses in areas with greater income opportunities.
