The Carolina Foundation opens its new call for scholarship applications today for the 2022-2023 academic year. This 22nd edition offers 594 scholarships across all fields of study, distributed as follows: 236 postgraduate scholarships, 90 doctoral and short-term postdoctoral fellowships, 27 faculty mobility grants, and 121 institutional study grants, in addition to 120 renewals of doctoral scholarships. The call encompasses a total of 171 academic programs, 143 of which are postgraduate.
The call for applications falls within the framework of the “Spanish Cooperation Grants,” which includes grants from the Carolina Foundation and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID). Its design addresses both the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda and the “triple transition”—digital, ecological, and social—that societies face in order to become more just, sustainable, and inclusive.
Therefore, this year's Carolina Foundation scholarships place special emphasis on fields such as urban sustainability, food security, mental health, and gender studies. The call for applications also ensures the continuation of the STEM programs, aimed particularly at women, and the bicentennial program, focused on Central American countries. Furthermore, it continues to highlight the importance of doctoral studies in strengthening Ibero-American scientific cooperation networks.
The call for proposals maintains its alignment with the 5 “P’s” of the 2030 Agenda: people, planet, prosperity, peace, justice and institutions, and partnerships of the 2030 Agenda. The definition of the training offer has used criteria of quality and relevance of the programs of academic institutions in the face of the societal challenges of the present.
