The project, developed by students of the Software Development Technology program at the Soacha extension, is called Sing to All. It is a prototype of a digital platform to support the learning processes of Spanish and mathematics in deaf children in primary school with didactic and playful strategies.
The structure of the digital platform, the content of the Spanish and mathematics modules for all levels of primary education, as well as the design, development, construction and implementation of the database that integrates the information of the platform, demonstrate the excellent academic level achieved by the Technology students, with the guidance of their teachers.
This web application was initially created to support learning processes for deaf children at the Pablo de Tarso District Educational Institution in Bosa San Pablo. A pilot test has already been conducted with the children at the institution, who have received the application enthusiastically and expressed their enjoyment of it. Very positive feedback has also been received from the teachers who guide the children in the classroom.
One of the teachers, Viviana, who is deaf, said that the app could be a very useful tool to support the learning process of the children in the classroom. She emphasized the importance of learning Spanish as a second language for deaf people and thanked the academic team at UCundinamarca who developed the app to support that process.
Based on the pilot test already conducted, valuable information is expected to be gathered to incorporate new functionalities that will contribute to the platform's improvement. The goal is to take the project to new phases, involving new students who will continue developing the application. This is part of the social responsibility initiatives undertaken by the Software Development Technology program.
