This year, there will be 237 postgraduate scholarships, 96 doctoral scholarships and short-term postdoctoral fellowships, 61 faculty mobility grants, and 302 institutional study grants. In addition, there will be 126 renewals of doctoral scholarships. Furthermore, there will be 193 academic programs, 122 of which are postgraduate.

The new

The main novelty this time is a renewed academic offering, which emphasizes areas that revolve around people, the planet, justice, peace, prosperity and institutions.

Furthermore, according to the entity, this time "the aim is to strengthen and consolidate academic mobility programs that promote the internationalization of faculty, including stays of students and researchers from Latin America in Spain and of Spanish students and researchers in Latin America, and increasing the number of participating institutions.".

In addition, there is an increase in the number of scholarships focused on combating gaps in STEM subjects, that is, Engineering, Science, Mathematics and Technology.

The modalities

– Doctoral scholarships and short-term postdoctoral fellowships: these aim to facilitate the attainment of doctoral degrees at Spanish academic institutions by faculty members from Ibero-American universities. The short-term postdoctoral fellowships are aimed at faculty members from Ibero-American universities who hold a doctoral degree and promote high-level academic exchanges between Spain and Latin America.

– Postgraduate scholarships: These are aimed at training graduates from a member country of the Ibero-American Community of Nations, with academic or professional qualifications demonstrated by an outstanding curriculum vitae. The program offers two forms of support: scholarships and study grants, and continues to combine official master's degrees, university-specific degrees, and specialization courses, with a particular emphasis on increasing the number of official degrees and the number of scholarships with official qualifications.

– Faculty mobility programs: allow a short research stay in Spain for teachers or research staff from Argentine, Brazilian, Paraguayan and Portuguese universities.

– Scholarship and institutional study programs: These are designed to help finance training programs at Spanish institutions that aim to strengthen the institutional capacity of Ibero-American public administrations. In some cases, the Latin American and Spanish partner institutions are responsible for nominating candidates to the Carolina Foundation.

The application period for doctoral scholarships, short-term research stays, faculty mobility programs, and institutional studies will remain open until April 3. For doctoral programs and Argentine faculty mobility programs, the deadline is April 1.

Candidates can find all the information regarding scholarships on the website www.fundacioncarolina.es, from where the applications are processed.
