50 years training professionals in Cundinamarca

The Zipaquirá Extension, with a performance by the Symphony Orchestra and a Eucharist, paid a solemn tribute to UCundinamarca, which is celebrating 5 decades committed to public education in the department.

Happiness, good times, nostalgia, responsibility and commitment to continue working for a quality education for the youth of the department and the country, were the feelings awakened by the first homily that was celebrated as a tribute to the University of Cundinamarca, which has around 29,000 graduates throughout its history, and who today feel gratitude for their alma mater.

“Gratitude and blessings to all the administrators and teachers who fulfill their daily work and help young people to realize their dreams as professionals,” were the words of the priest who officiated the religious ceremony.

It is worth highlighting the joy and pride that the UCundinamarca Symphony Orchestra's understated performance aroused among the attendees, not just another performance, but a tribute to the University that trained them as music teachers.

About the Symphony Orchestra

The Cundinamarca University Symphony Orchestra was founded in 2004 under the baton of Maestro Humberto Tovar, due to the need to involve and promote orchestral work among music program students, encompassing universal symphonic repertoire.

As a result of the initiatives proposed by the university, the orchestra has had the opportunity to perform in different venues in Bogotá and its surroundings, such as the León de Greiff Auditorium, the Fabio Lozano Auditorium, and the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá, among others, presenting works of high artistic demand, including Scheherazade by N. Rimsky-Korsakov, Symphony V by L. van Beethoven, Coronation Mass by WA Mozart, Suite from the Ballet Estancia by A. Ginastera, Unfinished Symphony by F. Schubert, and The Seven Last Words of Christ by T. Dubois, among others.

Currently, the Cundinamarca University Symphony Orchestra is made up of 60 musicians, including students and teachers from the music program, and is directed by Maestro Oscar Vargas.
