3,134 people from the U. participated in the National drill

The eighth national drill was held to raise awareness among Colombians about preventing potential natural disasters. The institution participated with all seven of its locations.

The University of Cundinamarca joined the participation of public and private companies in the country that took part in the national drill, which is carried out in order to overcome emergencies such as earthquakes, floods, tremors, fires, explosions, among others.

The drill strengthened coordination mechanisms at the university to evaluate its communication and alarm systems. A total of 3,134 people were evacuated, representing 931% of the staff working at that moment in the facilities of some of the university's seven campuses, according to the report submitted by Occupational Health and Safety.

“There was an increase of almost 401 people compared to the number evacuated last year. The average evacuation time was 5.51 minutes,” the report added. It is worth noting that the UCundinamarca Evacuation Committee is made up of brigade members and staff from each office.

The activity aimed to raise awareness among officials, teachers, and students of the University of Cundinamarca regarding potential risks or threats.

A call is made to the entire community to increase organization, coordination, and communication among the different actors in emergency situations.
