During the last session of the Collegiate Body for Administration and Decision (OCAD) of the Science, Technology and Innovation Fund (CteI) Three investment initiatives for the department of Cundinamarca were approved by $15.7 billion, which will be taken from the royalty budget.
As agreed, one of the initiatives relates to structuring a call for proposals to finance applied research and experimental development projects in four priority areas: climate variability, green growthe, non-conventional renewable energies and the relationship between peace and integrated biodiversity management.
Colciencias, also managed by the department's universities, would be in charge of the call for proposals, and from which a selection is expected. 19 proposals of funded research, each, up to $300 million.
“The goal is to promote the generation and transfer of technology that will allow the development of new products, goods that are aligned with the biodiversity axis of the Bogotá – Region Smart Specialisation Strategy. It is expected that up to 13 proposals will be co-financed., each one for a maximum value of $300 million for each project,” the entity explained.
Likewise, another project will have a cost of $3.9 billion, of the of which $3.714 million are royalties, is the implementation of business innovation management systems This initiative, formulated jointly by the national and regional governments, aims to develop innovation capabilities in 30 companies located in Cundinamarca. At the end of the process, each company will present a functional and innovative prototype to its clients.
The Investment Coordinator of General Royalties System (SGR) of the National Planning Department (DNP), Camilo Lloreda, stated that “these initiatives are a benchmark and demonstrate that when the Nation and the territory build and formulate projects together, solutions are found to the challenges that the country faces in terms of science, technology and innovation.”.
