106 medals in the Swimming Cup

The University of Cundinamarca's swimming team was a key player in the III UCundinamarca CAD 2025 Sprint Swimming Cup, held on October 27th in the city of Fusagasugá. The competition brought together 186 athletes from 12 clubs in a day that stood out for the talent, discipline, and sportsmanship of the participants.

The Club's delegation, made up of six swimmers, competed in the categories of Seedling, Minors, Children, Youth, Junior, Seniors, Masters and Functional Diversity, obtaining outstanding results.

The athletes achieved a total of 106 medals: 56 gold, 27 silver and 23 bronze, consolidating the institution as one of the most outstanding in the competition.

In addition, the team took home 10 trophies as champions in various categories, an achievement that demonstrates the growth of the university's sports program. The titles were won by: Thomas González (Boys Under 10), Mariana Piamba (Girls Under 10), Camila Pinzón (Girls with Disabilities), Iván Ruiz (Boys with Disabilities), Loren Hernández (Girls Under 14), Samuel Soler Sierra (Boys Under 14), Isabel Ortiz (Girls Under 14), Gabriela Gómez (Girls Under 18), Jerónimo Serrano Mayorga (Boys Under 18), and Julián Martínez (Boys Under 18).

Coach Anyi Lorena Colmenares Galeano, who leads the team along with Lisbeth Nallibe Rincón Cuéllar, highlighted the athletes' commitment and perseverance. "These results reflect the effort, discipline, and teamwork that we have been strengthening within the sports training process," she stated.

Colmenares Galeano emphasized that participation in events of this level allows swimmers to project themselves towards regional and national competitions, in addition to promoting values such as perseverance, self-confidence and excellence.

The sporting event was also a space for the exchange of experiences and the integration of clubs from different regions, strengthening the swimming network and the development of young talent in Cundinamarca.

With this new achievement, the University of Cundinamarca reaffirms its commitment to comprehensive education and the promotion of sports as an essential part of university well-being.

The swimmers continue their preparation for the upcoming tournaments, with the goal of continuing to proudly represent the institutional colors in new competitions.
