The training received at the University of Cundinamarca continues to open doors for its graduates; an example is Óscar Alberto Vásquez Guio, a 2009 graduate of the Sports Science program at the Soacha extension, who today is developing his career in high-performance settings, research, teaching, and innovation applied to soccer.

Currently, Óscar serves as the institutional fitness coach for the Millonarios FC professional soccer team, where he has built a career that began in the academies and youth development divisions, advanced to youth and women's soccer, and subsequently reached the men's professional team, participating in national and international competitions. “My career at Millonarios began in the training academies, and later I had the opportunity to take on new challenges in grassroots soccer,” explained the graduate, who during this stage was part of the coaching staff that won the U-20 Youth Super Cup.

His experience also reached international stages; in 2020 he participated as the fitness coach for Millonarios in the U-20 CONMEBOL Libertadores Cup, held in Paraguay. Later, he assumed responsibilities in women's professional football and joined the men's first team, where he has participated in tournaments such as the Copa Libertadores and the Copa Sudamericana, in addition to being part of processes that achieved titles such as the 2023 Colombian Superliga.

Beyond work on the pitch, his experience has allowed him to understand physical preparation as an integral process that requires planning, monitoring, evaluation, and adaptation. “Physical preparation is not limited to daily work with the footballer; it also involves managing processes, controlling loads, and guaranteeing methodological continuity,” Óscar noted when referring to the challenges of working in professional football.

This vision also led him to get involved in teaching and training processes for coaches and fitness trainers, participating in academic spaces related to sports science, strength training, and athletic performance, as well as in training processes associated with the Colombian Football Federation licensing.

For the graduate, university education was essential to building this professional perspective. “The University allowed me to strengthen the foundations and understand that sports practice must be accompanied by knowledge, research, and ongoing training,” he stated.

His interest in connecting scientific evidence with the real needs of sport is also reflected in his research work and in the development of tools for assessment, programming, load monitoring, and performance analysis.

An enterprise that brings science to sport

As part of this commitment, Óscar is the founder and CEO of OVG4 Performance System, an initiative that integrates science, methodology, technology, and practical experience to develop solutions aimed at physical conditioning coaches, trainers, athletes, and sports organizations. “The project stems from identifying real needs encountered during years of field work,” he explained. The proposal seeks to turn the processes of evaluation, analysis, planning, programming, and training control into systems applicable to the needs of high-performance sports.

His journey, from academies and youth football to professional football and international competitions, reflects a path built on training, experience, research, and innovation.

Today, Óscar continues to build his reputation as a sports professional, educator, researcher, and entrepreneur, with a clear goal: to contribute to physical training that is increasingly evidence-based and aligned with the real needs of athletes.

His story represents the purpose of the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT), an education that transcends the acquisition of knowledge to turn it into actions capable of transforming realities. From his experience in high performance, teaching, research, and entrepreneurship, Óscar demonstrates how a professional can take the knowledge built at the University out into the world and, from there, generate new opportunities for sports and society.
