For the third consecutive time, the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Cundinamarca gave an outstanding performance in the concert series of the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University, where it performed five classical works.
The Symphony Orchestra, made up of 62 musicians including students and teachers, and under the direction of Maestro Oscar Javier Vargas, a teacher at the Zipaquirá Extension, shone with its repertoire, delighting the audience that gathered in the Fabio Lozano auditorium of the Cultural Center of the university institution.
“This cultural opportunity is very important for the University's Music program, as it demonstrates a viable option for countless young people who wish to pursue professional training in this artistic field. These experiences undoubtedly captivate both the performer and the listener.”, Oscar Javier Vargas, director of the UCundinamarca Symphony Orchestra, highlighted this.
Participation in the University Symphony Orchestra's concert series comes after an audition, a requirement evaluated by a demanding judging panel, who for the third consecutive time granted the University's musicians the opportunity to participate in the Utadeo concert series in April.
The repertoire performed at the symphonic evening had a universal classical style, with contrasting works such as Overture La Gazza Ladra by Gioachino Rossini, Morceau Symphonique by Alexandre Guilmant, Brian Prada, Trombone, Capriccio Español by N. Rimsky-Korsakov, and Kalamarí, Paraphrase on themes by Lucho Bermúdez – Alex Tovar.
“This time we involved students from the Music program. There is a soloist. We gave them this opportunity after holding an internal competition. This repertoire has a significant level of difficulty that exponentially increases the artistic level of the orchestra.”, Vargas, director of the University Symphony Orchestra, pointed this out.
