ICONTEC recertifies the University of Cundinamarca in ISO 9001:2008 Standard

The certification is the result of the Institution's Quality Policy and indicates the commitment to the continuous improvement of processes, the consolidation and maintenance of a culture oriented towards excellence.

ICONTEC (Colombian Institute of Technical Standards and Certification) officially awarded the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management recertification to UCundinamarca, an achievement that once again confirms the consolidation of the Quality Management System in the university.

“This recognition awarded by ICONTEC rewards the work and dedication of the entire human team of the University of Cundinamarca, work that has been developing in the last 10 years and that contributes to the strengthening of the different processes of the Institution, such as the planning and promotion of a culture of quality and the continuous improvement of daily work in support of academic management to offer quality educational services,”, Adriano Muñoz Barrera, rector of the Institution, expressed.

For the past decade, the University's leadership has been working to design a management system aimed at ensuring the continuous improvement of its administrative processes to support the work of the academic community. In 2014, the institution received its first quality certification, reinforcing its selection criteria based on ISO 9001.

In 2017 the system was oriented towards the new strategic vision of quality policy based on training that prioritizes knowledge, education for life, democratic values, civility and freedom.

Likewise, work is being done on the foundation of the strategy and operation with guidelines for entrepreneurship, high quality of programs, translocality and as a possibility of generating a culture of peace, establishing policies aimed at making the Institutional Educational Project possible.

This is so that the University can guide its behavior and continuous improvement through compliance with defined requirements such as good administrative practices that support daily work, resulting in the quality of processes and achieving both program accreditation and institutional management.

“This certification issued by ICONTEC facilitates membership in the IQNET network and allows the University of Cundinamarca to be recognized in 150 countries. This achievement for the Internationalization strategic front is important because we are engaging with the world, supported by this certificate.”, Carolina Gómez Fontecha, coordinator of the Quality Management System, pointed this out.

Furthermore, the University joined the select group of higher education institutions that have received quality recertification, an achievement that helps to raise the Institution's profile nationally and to fulfill the mission objectives of the university organization.
