Colciencias awards category A to the research group Área Verde

This recognition is the result of call 781 of 2017 made by the National System of Science, Technology and Innovation (SNCTeI), for the recognition and measurement of Research, Technological Development and Innovation Groups.

Valid until December 5, 2019, the Green Area Research Group attached to the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences received promotion to category A after the results of the recognition and measurement of research groups carried out by the National System of Science, Technology and Innovation – SNCTeI, granted by Colciencias.

Currently there are categories C, B, A and A1, and for the first time in the history of research at the University of Cundinamarca, a group founded at this institution has achieved promotion in this category.

The Área Verde group has had extensive and active participation in international and national conferences as presenters through its research groups and researchers. Its members have participated in events held in countries such as Mexico, Argentina, Cuba, China, Egypt, the Philippines, Japan, Greece, Thailand, and Turkey, among others. They have a considerable output of publications, including articles indexed in national and international journals, as well as book chapters, and have supervised undergraduate and graduate theses.

The group's impact is reflected in the processes of training, professional development, scientific dissemination, rural extension, and technological adoption in production systems in the Sumapaz province, with the participation of producer families since 2011. It has also supported and promoted the study and application of sustainable practices for obtaining agricultural products and services, seeking to foster food sovereignty and security.

The Green Area group was founded in 2011 and has included professionals from various disciplines related to the agricultural field since its inception. Some members have received significant academic recognition (graduate theses with distinction, scholarships, and awards for their research careers). The SESPA research group was also created, which currently involves students and graduates from the Animal Science and Agronomic Engineering programs.

The lines of research focus on: agroecology, rural development and integrated management of natural resources mainly.
