The competition, which was marked by difficult weather conditions, with cold and rain and a temperature below three degrees Celsius, was not an impediment for this athlete from Cundinamarca to be the first Colombian to achieve a gold medal in this category and set a new personal record with a time of 17 minutes, 24 seconds (17:24) achieved in this international competition.
