The Dialogando con el Mundo program of the University of Cundinamarca successfully held the Third Latin American Campsite, a space designed to strengthen English learning through real practice and promote cultural exchange among national and international students.
On November 7 and 8, the regional units of Soacha, Girardot, and Fusagasugá became settings for bilingual, dynamic, sports, and cultural experiences, where language was the tool to build bonds, learn, and share stories.
Dr. Aura Carolina Acosta Amaya, director of the Dialogando con el Mundo program, explained that a total of 229 people participated in the experience across the 3 regional units, including international and national students, knowledge and learning facilitators, brigade members, and administrative staff, who actively participated in the academic, cultural, and integration activities.
“Each activity became a bridge for students from different countries and programs to share ideas, culture, and fun, breaking down barriers through respect, creativity, and collaborative work,” highlighted the internationalization leader.
The camp also strengthened the sense of global community, empathy, and cultural understanding, fundamental pillars of the Transmodern Digital Educational Model (MEDIT) of the University of Cundinamarca, which promotes an education open to the world.
The day included team-building activities, games, sustainable workshops, and communication challenges that encouraged participants to express themselves in English in a natural and participatory environment, enhancing their communication skills and confidence.
For his part, Luis Miguel Iriarte, a student from the Technological Institute of Mexico who is doing an academic exchange at the Chía Extension, expressed that “it has been a very valuable experience; the people of Colombia are very warm, they have treated us very well, and we have learned a lot sharing with classmates from other countries.”.
With initiatives like this, the University of Cundinamarca reaffirms its commitment to comprehensive education, bilingualism, and international academic mobility, opening doors for its students to be global citizens.
