In order to strengthen teaching-learning processes and broaden horizons of knowledge, the “Dialogando con el Mundo” (Conversing with the World) program focuses on managing internationalization and the academic mobility of students, professors, and researchers, fostering collaboration with university networks and the exchange of experiences and knowledge. Within this framework, the program welcomed 41 new students from various Latin American countries who will participate in an academic exchange during the first semester of 2025.

At the Fusagasugá campus, 12 students from Argentina, Mexico, Peru, and Cuba were welcomed; at the Chía extension, 7 from Argentina, Mexico, and Peru; at the Facatativá extension, 9 from Peru, Brazil, Mexico, and Cuba; and at the Girardot branch, 9 from Mexico, Ecuador, Brazil, and Peru. (The students from Cuba will arrive in the coming weeks).

Dr. Aura Carolina Acosta Amaya, program director, stated: “We welcome international students from Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Brazil, Ecuador, and Cuba, thanks to the agreements we have with various institutions and our allied networks, such as the Latin American Academic Exchange Program (PILA), of which we are a part.”.

Acosta Amaya emphasized that these agreements allow our educational model to transcend borders. “We are supporting the translocality of our Transmodern Digital Educational Model MEDIT. At this moment, we are welcoming 41 international students in Chía, Fusagasugá, Facatativá, and Girardot. We have also sent 65 students to other countries and are planning the mobility of 24 professors to begin in the month of March.

The new students shared their expectations. Rosalba Sierra García, from the Autonomous University of Chapingo in Mexico, commented: “I am very eager to learn about different animal species and experience new cultures. My challenge is to apply the techniques taught here and in Mexico.”.

Lucila Gómez, from Argentina, expressed her excitement: “I am grateful to be here. I want to learn about Colombian education and culture, and I also want to develop a research program.”.

For his part, Jaime Herrera, an Agronomy student in Mexico, said: “My expectations are high. I want to learn about new agricultural practices and learn from the experience in Colombia.”.

For his part, Leandro Castillo Castillo from Peru added: “I am coming to study Electronic Engineering and I want to take away a great experience to innovate in technology in my country. I have loved Colombia, its culture and its people are wonderful.”.

With the arrival of these international students, the “Dialoguing with the World” program reaffirms its commitment to internationalization and the creation of an academic environment enriched by cultural diversity and the exchange of knowledge.
