Historical Overview

From a retrospective perspective, the first academic program offered was Financial Administration Technology, which began operations in 1978, aimed at meeting the specific demands of this sector. Subsequently, in 1987, in accordance with current national regulations, the Fusagasugá Headquarters and the Ubaté Section developed the Business Administration academic program in two cycles. The first was at the technological level with a duration of six semesters, leading to the title of Technologist in Financial Administration, and the second led to the title of Business Administrator with a duration of four semesters.

Since 1994, the Business Administration Program has been offered and developed with a duration of 10 academic semesters, expanding to the Girardot Sectional and, through an agreement with the Mayor's Offices of Facatativá and Chía, the curricular project is offered in the extension modality.

Subsequently, the Faculty of Administrative, Economic, and Accounting Sciences expanded the offering and development of undergraduate programs as follows: Public Accounting at the Fusagasugá Headquarters (Higher Council Agreement No. 035 of December 19, 2005) and at the Facatativá Extension (Higher Council Agreement No. 018 of May 2, 2007) with the Expansion of the Location of Development to the Ubaté Section (Ministry of Education Resolution No. 16447 of December 13, 2012), and Hotel and Tourism Management Technology at the Girardot Section (Higher Council Agreement No. 007 of July 12, 2006).

At the postgraduate level, the programs of Specialization in Management for Organizational Development and in Management of Managerial Information Systems are currently offered.

Science, Technology, and Innovation/University Interaction

Based on institutional guidelines, the Faculty of Administrative, Economic, and Accounting Sciences defines research lines and directives on science, technology, and innovation in the classroom, research training, knowledge production, creation and sustainability of research groups, student research incubators, research assistants, and young researchers.

This process is seen as a cross-cutting component of the curriculum in the development of competencies for project formulation, methodology design, teamwork, approaches, the development of innovations, and the search for alternatives to solve problems.

University interaction is a function articulated with science, technology, and innovation, with training-learning processes, and with social interaction. Therefore, the Faculty's purpose is to carry out ongoing exercises in the production, construction, and transfer of knowledge and culture that allow for integration, encounter, and dialogue with the community and society in creating solutions that contribute to regional policies and help understand and transform social, local, regional, and national reality.

The interaction of the programs affiliated with the Faculty implies a real and effective connection with the environment, especially in three areas: the productive sector, the State, and civil society; based on the identification of interests and needs, adhering to criteria of solidarity, sustainability, and recognition, and their consequent role in the construction of sustainable development, generating strategic solutions and a transformative impact.

University interaction fosters the engagement and active participation of graduates to enrich their personal and professional pursuits, strengthen their sense of belonging, and successfully consolidate their career prospects.
