Specialization: Specialization in Advanced Surveying for Cadastral Purposes.

Mission and Vision

Mission: Train transhuman professionals committed to the social challenge of generating geo-scientific knowledge that fosters sustainable land management, based on diagnostics with available geospatial information, enabling them to propose solutions and make decisions aimed at stimulating territorial development from a translocal and transdisciplinary perspective.

Vision: By 2030, the Topographic and Geomatic Engineering academic program at UCundinamarca will be widely recognized at the regional, national, and international levels in terms of research, application, development, and dissemination of Geographic Information Technologies (GIT), for training professionals in Topography and Geomatics who are managers of the sustainable development of their territories in the preservation of the environment, the improvement of society's quality of life, and the respect for human beings and biodiversity, solving territorial and socio-environmental problems at different scales.

Admission Profile

TOPOGRAPHIC

The applicant for Topographic and Geomatic Engineering must demonstrate interest and aptitude for the abstract representation of the territory, including its geographic elements and spatiotemporal dynamics, as well as skills in mathematics, geometry, and physics. These will be evidenced during the interview, in the results of the Saber 11 test, and in the diagnostic test administered by the program.

Professional Profile

TOPOGRAPHIC

The Topographic and Geomatic Engineer trained by UCundinamarca takes on the social challenge of generating geo-scientific knowledge, carrying out diagnoses according to available geospatial information, proposing solutions, and making decisions aimed at stimulating local, regional, national, and international development based on criteria of business and institutional competitiveness, preservation approached from the perspective of decision-making, integrality, and sustainable development that promotes the social and cultural use of knowledge.

Occupational Profile

TOPOGRAPHIC

The Topographic and Geomatic Engineer is a professional who captures, stores, processes, and disseminates territorial information at the topographic level, using and complementing it with geomatic techniques; in other words, they manage georeferenced territorial information. These competencies are the mission of public and private entities that require professionals with training in Topographic and Geomatic Engineering, such as national and territorial environmental institutions and authorities, among others.

Training Purpose

To educate topographic and geomatic engineers who contribute to the social development of their territories from a translocal and transmodern perspective through the appropriation of knowledge and the generation of solutions relevant to local, regional, and national needs, incorporating technological advancements, mainly in the application of new technologies for geospatial information management.

Research Groups

The Topographic and Geomatic Engineering program has a research group named GEOCARTOGRAFIA, categorized as C according to the latest measurement carried out by MinCiencias, where Science, Technology, and Innovation processes are developed within the framework of the program's research lines:
  • Learning, knowledge, technologies, communication, and digitization
  • Cadastre, Planning, and Land Management.
  • Geomatics, Topography, and Geodesy.
  • Translocality, territory, culture, art, and creation.
