Mission and Vision

Mission: The Faculty of Sport Sciences and Physical Education must be an academic community oriented towards the creation of a center and the production and dissemination of knowledge and professional exchange in the field of physical culture, both nationally and internationally; through permanent processes of qualified research, the strengthening of cultural identity, training, and professional practice in the service of human talent development, taking into account the aspirations for transformation in the fields of education, ecology, technology, and the culture of the country.

 

Vision: Cultivation of the knowledge and practices inherent to Sports Sciences for professional training, social progress, and physical culture in the service of human talent development, identity, and the quality and enjoyment of life in the region, the department, and the country.

Professional Profile

To train a sports science professional with a solid disciplinary scientific foundation, an adequate understanding of the social reality in which the practice of the profession is framed, appropriate technical training for efficient action, and an ethical commitment to their social environment and the country.

 

Train professionals with an appropriate attitude toward the research processes inherent to their disciplines and social practices, in order to contribute to the identification and solution of problems in their social environment and the country.

 

Project the action of physical culture in the program's area of influence, as a necessary condition to contribute to community development and the improvement of the quality of life.

 

Contribute to the construction of a national physical culture, necessary for the strengthening of our identity based on the traditions and practices of Colombian society.

The Sports Science professional, a graduate of the University of Cundinamarca, is generally competent to:

 

  • Design and guide the development of Physical Culture processes, both in the fields of sports and Physical Education, in educational institutions and the field of non-formal activity.
  • Design and conduct, or participate in the development of, interdisciplinary research projects in the specific fields of Physical Culture.
  • Work efficiently in a team with professionals from one's own discipline or in interdisciplinary processes.
  • Build positive interpersonal relationships in your workplace and in society at large.
  • To ethically assume professional performance and social commitment.

Training Purpose

The Sports Science program at UCundinamarca is oriented from a philosophical and scientific foundation capable of addressing disciplinary developments and the social demands of our environment, in accordance with the perspectives outlined in the Institutional Educational Project, especially in its teleological aspects of mission and vision, which emphasize professional training in the service of the department and the country and the cultivation of knowledge in accordance with the development of academic and scientific disciplines.
