About the program

The Specialization Program in Environmental Education and Community Development at the University of Cundinamarca aims, through contextual analysis, to introduce students to a new paradigm with a holistic approach to building a new relationship with nature. Furthermore, it is essential for specialists to understand that the environment and nature are the axis around which all forms of knowledge interrelate, but this must be understood with an integrative vision. The program also aims to contribute categories and concepts for analyzing environmental and educational problems, promoting concrete actions regarding the participation of communities and young people in proposals for change and intervention that can alter the course of human action and direct it toward sustainable processes at the local, regional, and global levels.

Professional profile

Upon completion of the Specialization Program in Environmental Education and Community Development, graduates will be able to respond to academic environmental challenges and projects through their involvement with educational institutions at all levels. Likewise, the program aims to equip students to lead community projects collaboratively with local communities, whether these projects originate from government entities—municipalities, departments, national agencies—or from international organizations that contribute resources through international cooperation agreements. Therefore, the graduate profile will enable them to:

+ To understand and interrelate the conceptual bases of Environmental Epistemology and its application in the identification and solution of environmental and human development problems and in the design and implementation of processes for the environmental sustainability of territories.

+ Design, implement and evaluate in a participatory manner environmental education projects, environmental policies, application of global programs, and innovate and create solutions to regional and local problems that affect communities from an environmental point of view.
